The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources presented a summary of its projects and achievements at the University of Jordan as part of the Excellence Month activities

Amman, May 27, 2024 - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources organized a scientific visit to the University of Jordan to introduce the ministry, its projects, and achievements as part of the Excellence Month activities taking place this May.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. Khaldoun Shatnawi, Director of the Water, Energy, and Environment Center at the University of Jordan.

Several sessions were held during the meeting. Eng. Gha'ram Al-Dweikat from the Electricity and Rural Electrification Directorate presented the tasks of the directorate, including monitoring the electricity sector and its regulations, the policies governing it, and projects focused on maintaining its sustainability, such as smart meters, electricity generation projects, and electrical connections.

Eng. Arwa AbuKashaf from the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Directorate presented an overview of renewable energy policies and legislation in Jordan, the capabilities of projects connected to the electrical grids, and outlined future plans to expand renewable energy projects.

Geologist Qasim Al-Masa'id from the Natural Resources Studies Directorate provided a summary of the stages the ministry is working on to increase investment in the mineral wealth sector and maximize the added value of mineral ores. He also highlighted the services provided by the ministry to the public and private sectors, discussed cooperation agreements signed between the ministry and several companies in the field of exploration and mining of mineral resources, and provided a future outlook for natural resources given the growing demand for elements used in electronic and modern industries. Geologist Alaa Al-Riyahi also reviewed the most important investment opportunities through various marketing methods for ores and investment opportunities.

Regarding JREEEF , Eng. Karam Al-Ajarmeh gave an overview of the strategic objectives and a general overview of the fund, the sectors benefiting from its programs, achievements until the end of 2023, and presented general performance indicators for projects implemented across various sectors.

Eng. Sarah Al-Tuwaysi also presented the most prominent programs and projects that have been implemented, the sectors targeted by the fund, and collaborations with relevant partners.
