April 24, 2025 - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, through the Jordan Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund (JREEEF), in cooperation with the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), launched the Knowledge Exchange Program (KSP) for 2024-2025 in Amman. The program was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Bill O Kim, and the head of the Korean delegation, Hak Doo Kim, and representatives from the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation.
The bilateral cooperation between the two sides aims to enhance the exchange of expertise and knowledge in the fields of renewable energy and energy efficiency, and to benefit from the Korean experience in developing policies and programs related to support renewable energy and energy conservation, which will contribute supporting Jordan's efforts to achieve energy security and environmental sustainability.
The KSP includes activities focused on the exchange of technical and institutional expertise between the Korean and Jordanian sides, in addition to support capacity building within the Jordan Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund, which also contributes the development of analytical tools, policy formulation, and efficient program implementation.
The program also includes conducting a specialized financial study to measure the impact of the Fund's programs and projects on alleviating the burden of the energy bill on the general budget, with the aim of enhancing the effectiveness of energy-related financial policies and achieving sustainable savings in the long term.
For his part, Dr. Rasmi Hamza, Director of the Jordan Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund, emphasized the importance of the partnership with the Korean side, which is a continuation of the successful cooperation between the two sides previously.
Hamza indicated that the program will focus on conducting a technical and financial analysis of the Fund's programs and projects and building the capacity of the Fund's staff to develop the projects it implements.
For his part, the KOTRA representative expressed his pride in the partnership with Jordan, noting that the initiative comes within the framework of the Republic of South Korea's support for developing the energy sector in friendly countries through the exchange of knowledge and the implementation of successful experiences.
The program falls within the Fund's vision to enable Jordan for the transition to clean and sustainable energy and enhance energy efficiency in various sectors by adopting international best practices and employing them to serve the Kingdom's priorities.
