Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh met today, Wednesday, with Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Eng. Karim Badawi to discuss the issue of the Arab Gas Pipeline and the future of gas in Jordan according to the strategic plan of the Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources on the sidelines of the ADIPEC 2024 conference, which is currently being held in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi.
Both sides addressed the possibility of connecting the Al-Risha gas field to the Arab Gas Pipeline via a 300-kilometer connection, based on new studies that show commercial quantities of gas in the Al-Risha field. The two sides also addressed Jordan-Egyptian collaboration in the vehicle gas sector.
The Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the Egyptian General Petroleum Company agreed to undertake technical discussions with the goal of working on oil and gas development in Jordan's open areas and benefiting from Egyptian expertise in the subject.
At the end of the meeting, Al-Kharabsheh extended an invitation to the Egyptian Minister to visit the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan; in turn, Badawi expressed his welcome and acceptance of the invitation.
It is worth noting that the Egyptian Gas Company and Aqaba Development Company recently signed an agreement to carry out the project of supplying natural gas to the Quweira Industrial City in Aqaba, which included the construction of a natural gas pipeline network and the necessary infrastructure, a control and operation building, and general safety systems in accordance with the highest gas sector regulations.
