June 27, 2024 - The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Engineer Amani Al-Azzam, said today, Thursday, that for several years, women’s work in the energy sector was not easy, available, or acceptable, but with insistence and determination to learn and provide a stimulating environment, women’s work and involvement in the areas of the energy sector have become It is seeing increasing demand.

Al-Azzam added, during a discussion paper she presented in a session entitled “The Role of Women in the Energy Sector” within the activities of the second day of the Fifth CIGRI Jordan Conference, held in Amman during the period from June 26- 27, that the Ministry is always working to empower women working in the sector in various fields that they work with it.

Al-Azzam described the work environment for women in the ministry as possible, noting that this was achieved thanks to the ministry’s role in developing policies that guarantee an internal work environment that gives women a role and enables them to interact with their work in various fields, in a way that is reflected in their productivity.

For her part, the General Manager of the Electricity Distribution Company, Engineer Reem Hamdan, stressed the importance of providing a suitable work environment for women in their workplaces, in addition to providing a fair opportunity for everyone without any discrimination.

Hamdan stated that the company is always working to enhance the role of women and their work in the sector, explaining that for the first time a woman was named in the company to be director of subscriber services, which confirms the seriousness of empowering women in the company.

For her part, Executive Vice President for Administrative Affairs at the Jordanian Petroleum Refinery Company, Khawla Al-Akhras, said that the nature of women’s work in the refinery is special, but the company also always does its part to provide the appropriate environment for working women, support them, and provide everything necessary, so that every woman is able to perform what is required of her with all efficiency.
