25 years of royal interest in the energy and minerals sector

June 9, 2024-The energy and minerals sector has received exceptional royal attention during the past 25 years, in an official effort to place Jordan firmly on the regional and even global mining map, and to be a regional center for green energy, in line with the vision of economic modernization.

The royal interest in the energy sector is evident through his continuous directives to the government and his direct focus in the books of the royal mandate to governments on anticipating the future, with regard to enhancing investment in the mining and alternative energy sector.

The royal directives for all concerned in the energy and mineral resources sector constituted a road map for action and greater efforts to overcome all challenges facing the sector.

*Global indicators for Jordan in the field of energy

Jordan achieved first place in the percentage of installed capacity of renewable energy sources, excluding hydropower, according to the Arab Future Energy Index (AFEX) report for the year 2022, prepared by the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE).

It also achieved first place in the per capita share of renewable energy capacity at the level of Arab countries according to the (RCREEE) report in 2020.

It also achieved first place in the Middle East and North Africa and sixth globally, according to the Climate Scope 2019 report, in the field of investment in renewable energy.
