  • The prices of petroleum derivatives rose on a monthly average, as global crude oil prices and all petroleum derivatives witnessed a decline at the beginning of the current month of July, followed by, with the renewal of the political crisis in the region, a notable increase during the second half of July, which led to a rise in the monthly average prices of petroleum derivatives for July compared to their counterparts for the previous month of June, especially for diesel and kerosene.
  • Domestic pricing of petroleum derivatives is based on the monthly average according to the global average prices of petroleum derivatives for the thirty days preceding the pricing day.
  • Despite the rise in the global average prices of petroleum derivatives during the current month of July, the Petroleum Derivatives Pricing Committee decided, under the directive of the government, to fix the prices of main petroleum derivatives for August at the same levels adopted in the July pricing.
  • The price of 90-octane gasoline was fixed at 1000 fils/liter, 95-octane gasoline at 1310 fils/liter, diesel at 850 fils/liter, and kerosene at 550 fils/liter.
  • The committee also decided to fix the price of the domestic gas cylinder (12.5 kg) at 7 dinars, and to continue supporting liquefied petroleum gas allocated to the industrial sector with a support value amounting to 1.25 million dinars.
  • This fixing decision comes as a continuation of the government's approach aimed at limiting the reflection of sharp rises and fluctuations in global markets on citizens and economic sectors.
  • The total support and price differentials borne by the government since the beginning of the crisis until the end of July amounted to approximately (212) million dinars.
  • The policy of gradual adjustment and bearing part of the actual costs over the past months has contributed to limiting the full transmission of the impact of rising global prices to the local market, and alleviating the living and economic burdens on citizens and productive sectors.
  • The government continues to continuously monitor developments in global markets and prices of crude oil and petroleum derivatives, to ensure taking appropriate decisions at the right time, and to achieve a balance between protecting citizens and economic sectors and preserving economic and financial stability.

Petroleum Derivatives Pricing Committee announces fuel prices for August 2026

Friday, July 31, 2026 - The Petroleum Derivatives Pricing Committee held its periodic meeting today, Friday, to announce fuel prices effective from the first of next August.

The committee reviewed petroleum derivatives prices during July and compared them with their counterparts for the previous month of June, which showed a notable rise in monthly average prices, especially for diesel and kerosene, due to the renewal of the political crisis in the region during the second half of the month, leading to a rise in the monthly average prices of petroleum derivatives for July compared to their counterparts for June.

Accordingly, and under the directive of the government, the committee decided to fix the prices of main petroleum derivatives for August at the same levels adopted in the July pricing, as follows:

  • 90-octane gasoline: 1000 fils/liter
  • 95-octane gasoline: 1310 fils/liter
  • Diesel: 850 fils/liter
  • Kerosene: 550 fils/liter
The price of the domestic gas cylinder (12.5 kg) was also fixed at 7 dinars, with the continuation of supporting liquefied petroleum gas allocated to the industrial sector with a support value amounting to 1.25 million dinars.

The committee clarified that the fixing decision comes as a continuation of the government's approach aimed at limiting the reflection of sharp rises and fluctuations in global markets on citizens and economic sectors, as the government adopted a policy of gradual reflection of global rises, and bore a large part of the price differentials.

The committee confirmed that local prices of petroleum derivatives during the past months did not reflect the actual costs, as the total support and price differentials borne by the government since the beginning of the crisis until the end of July amounted to about (212) million dinars, including support for domestic gas cylinders.

The committee indicated that the policy of gradual adjustment and bearing part of the actual costs over the past months contributed to limiting the full transmission of the impact of rising global prices to the local market, and alleviating the living and economic burdens on citizens and productive sectors, affirming that domestic pricing of petroleum derivatives is based on the monthly average according to the global average prices of petroleum derivatives for the thirty days preceding the pricing day.

The committee confirmed that it will continue to continuously monitor developments in global markets and prices of crude oil and petroleum derivatives, to ensure taking appropriate decisions at the right time, and to achieve a balance between protecting citizens and economic sectors and preserving economic and financial stability.
