The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources celebrated the achievement of its Change Team under the EDGE Green Buildings Project, following the qualification of several ministry staff members to obtain the EDGE Expert certification. This milestone reflects the Ministry’s commitment to capacity building and promoting the concepts of sustainability and green buildings.

The celebration was attended by the Ministry’s Secretary General, Eng. Amani Al-Azzam, along with several directors, representatives from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the Jordan Green Building Council, and ADAA Sustainable Development Consulting Company, as part of a project funded through a Dutch grant.

Al-Azzam highlighted that the project demonstrates the Ministry’s success in developing the capabilities of its staff and enhancing their knowledge of global best practices in the field of green buildings. She noted that the project was the result of collaboration between the Ministry, the International Finance Corporation, and the Jordan Green Building Council, contributing to the qualification of national expertise in sustainability-related fields.

For his part, Head of the Ministry’s Change Team, Nidal Al-Qasem, explained that the two-year project included technical studies and assessments of the Ministry’s main building. It also contributed to developing the capabilities of the Change Team and empowering it to lead sustainability initiatives within the Ministry.

Al-Qasem added that six members of the Change Team obtained the EDGE Expert certification with the support of the Jordan Green Building Council and the International Finance Corporation. The certified members are Eng. Fatima Nasser, Eng. Alaa Shdeifat, Eng. Waseem Darabseh, Eng. Heba Al-Otaibi, Eng. Reem Al-Bazour, and Eng. Afnan Abu Rabee.

Al-Qasem expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the partner and supporting organizations. He also praised the contributions of Director of the Planning and International Cooperation Directorate, Eng. Bushra Al-Abbadi, and Director of the Support Services Directorate, Eng. Abdullah Al-Shibli, in addition to the technical support provided by Eng. Abeer Al-Shaalan, Eng. Maysoon Al-Kharisat, and Eng. Ghaidaa from the external partner organizations, which contributed to the successful implementation of the project.

This achievement comes as part of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources’ efforts to strengthen the culture of sustainability and build institutional capacities, in line with the Kingdom’s vision for sustainable development and a green economy.
