6 July 2026 – The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, through its Information Technology Directorate and in cooperation with the Jordan Information Systems Security Awareness Association, organized an awareness lecture on cybersecurity, with the participation of a number of the Ministry's employees. The lecture forms part of the Ministry's efforts to enhance digital knowledge and strengthen the capabilities of its staff.
The lecture was delivered by Engineer Ibrahim Safa, who highlighted the importance of raising cybersecurity awareness, the risks of cyber fraud, and the need to exercise caution when dealing with messages and communications from unknown sources. He also explained the core principles of information security, namely confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
Safa explained that cyber threats include financial fraud, espionage, and disruption, in addition to social engineering techniques that rely on manipulating individuals to obtain information. He emphasized the importance of protecting data and avoiding the sharing of sensitive information through applications and digital platforms.
He also pointed out that data represents a fundamental asset in the digital economy, underscoring the need to strengthen institutional capabilities in data management and utilization to improve services and support decision-making. The lecture is part of a series of training programs implemented by the Ministry to support digital transformation and enhance employees' readiness to keep pace with artificial intelligence applications.
