20 May 2026 – The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources organized an awareness workshop today, Wednesday, entitled “The Importance of Reporting Corruption, Reporting Mechanisms, and Whistleblower Protection.” The workshop was delivered by Dr. Ayman Taqi Al-Din, Director of the Witness and Whistleblower Protection Unit at the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission, with the participation of Mr. Abdul Halim Abu Sharia Al-Abadi, Director of the Internal Control Unit at the Ministry, Mr. Dhafi Al-Awaideh, Director of the Human Resources and Institutional Development Directorate, as well as heads of divisions and Ministry employees.
Mr. Abu Sharia emphasized the importance of the Ministry’s role in raising employee awareness regarding law enforcement mechanisms, reporting suspected corruption cases, the legal requirements for accepting reports and the circumstances that may prevent their acceptance, in addition to the scope of legal and employment protection provided by the Commission to whistleblowers, witnesses, and experts in accordance with the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Law.
He highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to maintaining cooperation with the Commission, noting that this workshop forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance awareness of national integrity standards and their role in strengthening sound institutional performance, while promoting a preventive approach to safeguarding public funds and ensuring that authorities and responsibilities are exercised with integrity and transparency.
For his part, Dr. Taqi Al-Din reviewed the mechanisms for implementing the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Law, explaining the procedures for reporting suspected corruption cases and the confidentiality measures surrounding such reports, while guaranteeing full protection for whistleblowers and witnesses in accordance with the law.
Dr. Taqi Al-Din focused on the law enforcement aspect of the legislation, outlining the legal procedures for handling submitted complaints and protecting witnesses and whistleblowers. He also reviewed the application of clear measures designed to protect whistleblowers and their relatives from any potential threats or acts of retaliation. In addition, he addressed the prevention and awareness component of the Commission’s work, which aims to promote the principles of the rule of law, accountability, transparency, and good governance.
