18 May 2026 - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, through the Information Requests Committee, held, today, Monday, an awareness workshop for employees of the National Petroleum Company entitled: "The Right to Obtain Information in the Energy and Mining Sectors," aiming to enhance awareness of the importance of the right to access information and the mechanisms for its application.

The workshop was presented by committee members Engineer Ghada Shatnawi and Yaser Abdullah, where they reviewed the concept of the right to obtain information and its importance in enabling individuals to exercise their rights and enhancing their active participation, in addition to its role in building informed opinions based on accurate and reliable information.

For her part, the Information Coordinator and Director of the Communication Directorate at the ministry, Linda Al-Na'imats, explained the importance of making information available through various channels and enhancing proactive disclosure, emphasizing the necessity of activating the role of the information coordinator in institutions to ensure the enforcement of the law, stressing the importance of integrating efforts with sector partners to make information available to its requesters in accordance with the provisions of the law, along with the necessity of training employees and raising their awareness of the mechanisms for enforcing the Law to Guarantee the Right to Obtain Information.

The organization of this workshop comes within a series of awareness events and lectures implemented by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources within the framework of its plan to enhance awareness of the right to obtain information, which supports the principles of transparency and institutional openness in the public and private sectors.
