The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, through the Information Requests Committee, held, today, Sunday, an awareness workshop for employees of the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission entitled: The Right to Obtain Information in the Energy and Mining Sectors, aiming to enhance awareness of the importance of the right to access information and the mechanisms for its application.

The workshop was presented by committee members Nor Al-Masri and Sabreen Abu Al-Rub, where they reviewed the concept of the right to obtain information and its importance in enabling individuals to exercise their civil, political, and social rights, and enhancing their active participation in managing public affairs, alongside its role in building informed opinions based on accurate and reliable information.

Abu Al-Rub addressed the legislation regulating the right to obtain information, foremost among them the Law to Guarantee the Right to Obtain Information No. (47) of 2007 and its amendments, emphasizing the importance of proactive disclosure by government institutions of available information and data, which enhances the principles of transparency and accountability.

For her part, Al-Masri presented an explanation of the data classification policy adopted in the ministry, in accordance with government policies and applicable Jordanian legislation, clarifying the mechanisms for handling information requests and the best practices followed by the ministry in applying the provisions of the law.

The workshop witnessed interaction from the attendees, who raised a number of questions and inquiries related to the applications of the law and mechanisms for obtaining information, where the Information Coordinator in the ministry, Linda Al-Na'imats, answered the participants' inquiries.

The organization of this workshop comes within a series of awareness events and lectures implemented by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources within the framework of its plan to enhance awareness of the right to obtain information, which supports the principles of transparency and institutional openness in the public and private sectors.
