The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, through the Directorate of Energy Efficiency and Climate Change, conducted a series of five specialized consultative dialogue sessions to support the development of the National Roadmap for the Buildings Sector in Jordan. The sessions were held from February 8 to 12, 2026, in Amman.

The sessions addressed five key themes, including strategic priorities for the buildings sector, existing buildings, the construction supply chain, new buildings, as well as urban and development planning.

Eng. Lina Al-Mobaideen, Director of the Directorate of Energy Efficiency and Climate Change, emphasized that these sessions represent a key milestone in the development of the national roadmap. She noted that their outcomes will contribute to strengthening policy development and implementation frameworks, in line with national efforts to promote more energy-efficient, sustainable, and climate-resilient buildings.

Al-Mobaideen further explained that the roadmap is being developed as part of the Jordanian-German Energy Partnership, between the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the German Energy Agency (dena), on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, and in cooperation with the Jordan Green Building Council.

The sessions brought together representatives from government entities, the private sector, and academic institutions to discuss the key challenges facing the buildings sector and to identify national priority areas for transformation. These efforts aim to enhance energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, and strengthen the sector’s resilience to climate change impacts.

The roadmap development process will continue over the coming months, with plans to officially launch and formally adopt it before the end of the current year.
