November 13, 2025 – Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, inspected on Thursday the progress of exploration and prospecting activities for phosphate ore in the Risha area, carried out under the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Ministry and Oman’s Tasneem Projects Company.

During the tour, Al-Kharabsheh received a technical briefing from the specialized team regarding the drilling sites, mechanisms for collecting rock samples, and preparing them for laboratory shipment. He also reviewed the stages of fieldwork within the project.

At the conclusion of the visit, a field meeting was held to discuss the preliminary results and the work plans for the upcoming phase, during which emphasis was placed on accelerating progress to achieve the strategic objectives of the project.

This visit comes as part of the follow-up on the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Ministry and the Omani company to explore phosphate ore in the Risha area. The project falls within the national direction to transform natural resources into local industries with added value, in line with the National Mining Strategy previously launched by the Ministry.

The Memorandum of Understanding covers an estimated area of about 300 square kilometers in the Risha region and grants the company the right to conduct geological and technical studies and assess the economic feasibility of developing the ore, including the potential establishment of downstream industries based on it within the Kingdom.

The Minister was accompanied during the visit by Eng. Hisham Al-Zayood, Director of the Geology and Mining Directorate at the Ministry of Energy, in addition to a team of technical and field staff from the Ministry, as well as the Tasneem Company team working on the project.
