The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, and the Minister of Labor, Khaled Al-Bakar, held a coordination meeting with representatives of mining companies operating on exploration projects in the Kingdom, in the presence of the Director General of the Vocational Training Corporation. The meeting aimed to discuss future cooperation prospects in developing and implementing specialized vocational training programs that meet the needs of the mining sector in the Kingdom, and to prepare qualified national competencies that keep pace with the needs of the local and regional labor market and support the national trend towards sustainable energy.

During the meeting, Al-Kharabsheh emphasized the importance of meeting the needs of the mining sector in related specializations, especially in light of the signing of two executive agreements for the exploration of gold and copper, in addition to a third agreement scheduled to be signed soon.

Al-Kharabsheh pointed out the Vocational Training Corporation's keenness to align the training programs it implements with labor market requirements and to direct efforts towards qualifying Jordanian youth to work in promising sectors, including the energy and mining sectors.

For his part, Al-Bakar announced that the Vocational Training Corporation is currently working on establishing an institute in the Al-Hasa area for specialized training in the fields of mining, manufacturing industries, and other specializations needed by the mining sector, which are scheduled to be identified during the meeting.

Al-Bakar directed the Vocational Training Corporation to form a specialized technical team to visit companies working in the energy and mining fields, and to identify their needs for qualified technical personnel, with the aim of developing training programs that align with the requirements of the local and regional market and enhancing employment opportunities within the "training-leading-to-employment" model.

For his part, the Director General of the Vocational Training Corporation, Dr. Ahmad Al-Gharaybeh, presented during the meeting an overview of the current training programs supporting the energy and mining sectors, which include specializations such as geological sampling and analysis technician, geological mapping technician using Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and earthquake and environmental monitoring technician, which are implemented in vocational training centers.

Al-Gharaybeh indicated that the Corporation is also working on developing field training programs in the field of sampling, and legal training programs in the mining sector, in addition to specialized programs in the technical skills used in extraction operations, meeting the needs of national companies operating in this vital sector.

The participants emphasized the importance of enhancing the partnership between the public and private sectors within a modern training model that links training and employment, and contributes to addressing unemployment challenges and providing sustainable job opportunities for Jordanian youth inside and outside the Kingdom.

This enhanced cooperation between the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the Ministry of Labor through the Vocational Training Corporation comes to enhance the readiness of national personnel and enable them to acquire the required skills in vital sectors, within the framework of the Economic Modernization Vision 2026–2029 and the achievement of sustainable national development programs.
