October 23, 2025 – Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, emphasized the strong and longstanding partnership between Jordan and Germany in the energy sector, noting that this fruitful cooperation continues to open new avenues for enhancing private sector collaboration between the two countries.

During a meeting with a high-level German economic delegation from the Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Al-Kharabsheh explained that the Ministry, through the Jordanian-German Energy Partnership Project, is conducting several studies related to the energy sector. These studies, implemented with the support of German experts, aim to transfer German know-how in the fields of energy transition, electrical energy storage projects, and energy efficiency.

He affirmed that the sector has undergone significant legislative and regulatory reforms to enable broader integration of renewable energy, including consumer-level energy storage systems, which promote the use of solar systems within on-grid consumption reduction projects. Dr. Al-Kharabsheh also expressed optimism for substantial market growth in this field in the coming years.

For her part, Eng. Azzaam noted that the Ministry has recently announced a 200 MW solar power project, and will, during the coming year, announce both a 100 MW wind project and a 100 MW four-hour battery energy storage project. These initiatives align with the national energy strategy and the National Electric Power Company’s roadmap, she added, inviting German companies to participate in these promising projects.

She also highlighted the Ministry’s cooperation with GIZ and DENA to enhance energy efficiency across various sectors, emphasizing that the National Energy Strategy for 2025–2035 aims to raise the share of renewable energy to 40% of total electricity generation in the Kingdom and to contribute to achieving Jordan’s national target of reducing carbon emissions by 31%. This, she said, will open the door for new investments in renewable energy, energy storage, and efficiency projects.

The German economic delegation reaffirmed the strength of bilateral relations and showcased Germany’s capabilities in supporting energy projects in Jordan, as well as the advanced technologies and opportunities available in the field of energy storage.
