The Arab Gas Pipeline is one of the strategic projects that support, enhances joint Arab action, and establishes stronger and more solid economic relations between Arab countries and other countries. As the Arab Gas Pipeline is one of the most prominent regional projects for cooperation in the field of energy.
The following are the stages that the Arab Gas Pipeline Project has gone through:
The first phase of the Arab gas pipeline inside Egyptian territory
The implementation of  first phase of the Arab Gas Pipeline from El Arish in Egypt to Aqaba was completed with a length of (265) km and a diameter of (36) inches and the supply of natural gas from Egypt to Jordan began on 27/7/2003 where the  supply of gas to the Aqaba Thermal Power Station began on 4/8/2003, with a generating capacity of (650) megawatts per hour.
Phase Two of the Arab Gas Pipeline (Part One) Inside Jordanian Territory:

This phase includes the section that falls within Jordanian territory and extends from the gas delivery point in Aqaba to the site of the Rehab Power Plant in the north of the Kingdom with a length of (393) and a diameter of (36) inches. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources issued a global tender using the Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) method. In August 2002, the Egyptian consortium (EPEG) was announced as the winner of the tender. EPEG consists of four Egyptian companies: the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company, Petro jet, ENPPI, and GASCO. The project agreements were signed in Amman on 25/1/2004. Under these agreements, the Jordanian-Egyptian Fajr Company for the Transport and Supply of Natural Gas, which was established by the Egyptian consortium and with the participation of the Egyptian Ministry of Finance and the Egyptian National Investment Bank, implemented the second phase of the Arab Gas Pipeline at a cost of (300) million dollars. On 7/7/2004, the successful financial closure of the project was announced in Jordan and the licensing agreement came into effect.
The second phase of the Arab Gas Pipeline, with a length of (393) km and a diameter of (36) inches a transmission capacity of up to 10 billion cubic meters per year was completed on 13/2/2006 and thirteen months before the contractual deadline, as gas supply to the Samra and Rehab power plants in the north of the kingdom was started and the Ministry of Energy issued a certificate of completion for this part in April 2007.

Phase Two of the Arab Gas Pipeline (Part Two) Inside Jordanian Territory:

The second phase of the Arab Gas Pipeline (part two) was completed from Rehab to the Jordanian-Syrian border. The pipeline is 30 km long and 36 inches in diameter and connects to the third phase of the Arab Gas Pipeline inside Syrian territory. This will allow Egyptian gas to be exported to Syria and Lebanon via Jordan. This part was completed in March 2008, and the Ministry of Energy issued a certificate of completion for this part in December 2009.
The Syrian side implemented the southern part of the third phase of the Arab gas pipeline inside the Syrian territory, extending from the Jordanian-Syrian border to the city of Homs with a length of (310) km and a diameter of (36) inches,  where this phase was launched and the import of natural gas from Egypt to Syria via Jordan was started in July of 2008, and the export of Egyptian natural gas to Lebanon via Jordan was started in November 2009.
Phase Three of the Arab Gas Pipeline Inside Syrian Territory:
The Syrian side implemented the southern part of the third phase of the Arab Gas Pipeline inside Syrian territory, extending from the Jordanian-Syrian border to the city of Homs. The pipeline is 310 km long and 36 inches in diameter.  whereThis phase was launched  and natural gas imports from Egypt to Syria via Jordan began in July 2008.
