Energy Efficiency and Climate Change Directorate

Main Tasks :

1. Coordinating on a continuous basis with the Ministry of Environment to implement all national policies and plans related to climate change, international requirements, and national commitments in this field, particularly those related to the energy sector and other relevant sectors.
2. Developing the general policy for energy conservation in all sectors and related legislation, and submitting them to the Council of Ministers for approval
3. Developing the general policy to improve energy efficiency in all sectors and setting performance indicators to monitor the implementation of this policy.
4. Preparing national plans, programs, and projects necessary to implement the policies mentioned above, in cooperation and coordination with all relevant entities.
5. Following up on the implementation of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Improvement System and related instructions.
6. Following up on the implementation of national plans, programs, and projects related to energy conservation and efficiency improvement in all sectors, in cooperation and coordination with all relevant entities.
7. Promoting national awareness in the field of energy conservation and efficiency improvement.
8. Establishing a database related to energy conservation and efficiency improvement in all sectors.
9. Developing and maintaining relations with relevant governmental bodies and institutions.
10. Developing and maintaining relations with donor institutions and any other entities wishing to cooperate with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in the fields of energy efficiency and climate change across different sectors.
