Energy Transition Directorate
The Department is responsible for monitoring and regulating energy transition applications locally, including renewable energy sources, green hydrogen, energy storage technologies, and electric vehicles, in line with current legislation. It contributes to drafting related policies and legislation, following up on their implementation, and monitoring global developments in this field. The Department supports national initiatives, prepares comprehensive plans to utilize renewable energy, and develops memoranda of understanding and investment agreements. It also oversees the implementation of energy transition projects, supervises the preparation of tender documents, and promotes international cooperation to transfer knowledge, technology, and benefit from funding programs.
Main Tasks :
- Monitor, regulate, and implement energy transition matters locally, especially renewable energy sources, green hydrogen, energy storage, and electric vehicles, in line with the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Law and related regulations
- Contribute to drafting and preparing policies and legislation related to energy transition, including green hydrogen, and follow up on their implementation.
- Track global developments in energy transition.
- Support national initiatives and programs that promote energy transition locally.
- Contribute to formulating national plans and programs to maximize renewable energy’s share in Jordan’s total energy mix.
- Develop and follow up on MoUs and agreements related to investments in energy transition projects, including green hydrogen production, and evaluate their outcomes.
- Follow up on the work of specialized committees on green hydrogen and implement their recommendations.
- Prepare and monitor studies on energy transition and ensure the implementation of their results with relevant stakeholders.
- Participate in preparing tender documents and direct offer guidelines in cooperation with internal and external stakeholders, including consultancy and feasibility studies for energy transition projects.
- Follow up on the implementation of energy transition projects owned by the government or private sector.
- Promote cooperation with other countries in the field of energy transition to transfer knowledge and technology and benefit from available technical and financial programs.
- Participate in local and international conferences and workshops on energy transition.
