Electricity and Rural Electrification Directorate

 Main Tasks :

1. Monitoring the implementation by distribution companies regarding electrical debts, power outages, and any disputes between consumers and subscribers.
2. Following up on the progress of ongoing electrical interconnection projects between Jordan and neighboring countries, as well as future projects aimed at strengthening interconnection with these countries.
3. Coordinating with the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission (EMRC) regarding legislation related to the electricity sector.
4. Coordinating annual development and expansion plans with the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) to meet growing energy demands.
5. Receiving and processing service recipient applications related to providing electricity connections funded by the Rural Electrification Fund (Fils Al Reef), and ensuring that all required official documents are complete in accordance with the applicable regulations.
6. Conducting field inspections of sites that meet the required conditions and documentation, and preparing official inspection reports for connecting electricity to these sites—either from existing networks or through solar energy systems, whether grid-connected or off-grid.
7. Carrying out technical and financial evaluations of solar energy projects—both grid-connected and off-grid—implemented under the Rural Electrification Fund, and supervising their execution across the various governorates of the Kingdom.
