Geology and Mining Directorate

 Main Tasks :

1. Conduct exploratory, geological, geochemical, structural, and engineering studies, and prospect for natural resources in the Kingdom.
2. Carry out geochemical surveys across the Kingdom for the purpose of exploring mineral ores and industrial rocks.
3. Conduct geological surveys, prepare geological maps, and carry out paleontological and petrographic studies to examine the composition of rocks and minerals.
4. Perform exploratory drilling for mineral resources and supervise related tenders.
5. Participate in and oversee the evaluation and qualification of companies interested in the strategic minerals and mining sector.
6. Participate in preparing and drafting all types of contractual documents and commercial agreements related to exploration, evaluation, production, and development of mineral resources.
7. Supervise and technically monitor the implementation of all contractual documents and commercial agreements related to exploration, evaluation, production, and development of mineral resources.
8. Promote and market available exploration areas for mineral resources.
9. Develop detailed geological databases for the Directorate’s projects, including geological and geochemical surveys and mineral exploration projects, and update them periodically on a sustainable basis.
10. Provide services for analyzing geological study data and aerial imagery of formations and rock exposures using various Geographic Information System (GIS) applications.
11. Manage and organize the use of advanced 3D software for processing exploration data and producing three-dimensional models of different ores.
