Amman, 2 August 2026 – The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources witnessed the signing of the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Contract between Samra Electric Power Generation Company and Al-Mawaqea General Contracting Technology Company, the EPC contractor responsible for implementing the UAE grant-funded wind power project.

The signing of the contract comes under the framework of the Joint Cooperation Agreement concluded between the Ministry and Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) in February 2026.

The project involves the supply and installation of five wind turbines with a total installed capacity of 25 MW in the Batn Al-Ghoul area of Ma’an Governorate. The Government of the United Arab Emirates, represented by Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar), will fully finance the implementation of the project, while Samra Electric Power Generation Company will assume responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the facility upon completion of construction works and successful commissioning.

The implementation of this project reflects the strong and longstanding brotherly relations between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the United Arab Emirates, while supporting Jordan’s strategic efforts to expand the deployment of renewable energy projects. The project will contribute to enhancing the security of energy supply, accelerating the Kingdom’s transition towards clean and sustainable energy sources, and meeting the growing demand for electricity. The project also supports national efforts to meet the growing demand for electricity and reflects the strength of the Jordanian–UAE strategic partnership and the shared commitment to implementing strategic projects that contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
