May 31, 2026 – The Fuel Derivatives Pricing Committee held its regular meeting today, Sunday, during which it reviewed fuel derivative prices for May and compared them with those of April.
Based on government directives aimed at mitigating the impact of rising global fuel derivative prices and reducing their direct effects on citizens and economic sectors, the Committee decided during its meeting to maintain all fuel derivative prices for June at the same levels as in May, while adjusting the diesel price in a manner that does not reflect the full actual cost of global market prices.
The Committee confirmed that the government has continued the approach adopted over the past month and since the onset of the regional crisis, whereby global price increases have not been fully passed on to local prices. Instead, only a portion of these increases has been reflected in the domestic market.
The Committee also noted that the government has provided cumulative direct support during the crisis period estimated at approximately JOD 170 million. Fuel subsidies for June are expected to reach around JOD 29 million, in addition to approximately JOD 3 million in support directed to the industrial sector, as part of efforts to maintain market stability and support productive sectors.
The Committee further highlighted the continuation of support for several vital sectors. It was decided to maintain the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) supplied to industries at JOD 695.81 per ton, despite its actual cost reaching JOD 929.58 per ton. This measure is part of the government’s policy to contain the effects of global price increases and support economic and productive sectors.
Accordingly, and in line with government directives, the Committee approved the following fuel prices for June:
- Gasoline Octane 90: Maintained at 1,000 fils per liter, with no increase.
- Gasoline Octane 95: Maintained at 1,310 fils per liter.
- Kerosene: Maintained at 550 fils per liter, with no increase.
- Household LPG Cylinder (12.5 kg): Maintained at JOD 7 per cylinder, with continued government support despite global price increases.
- Domestic Jet Fuel: Reduced by 10 fils per liter to 783 fils per liter.
- Diesel: Adjusted by 60 fils per liter to 850 fils per liter.
The Committee explained that the actual costs of fuel derivatives for June reached:
- Gasoline Octane 90: 1,069 fils per liter.
- Gasoline Octane 95: 1,310 fils per liter.
- Diesel: 960 fils per liter.
- Kerosene: 943 fils per liter.
- Household LPG Cylinder (12.5 kg): JOD 12.3 per cylinder.
The Committee indicated that the government did not pass on the full increase in costs to local consumers. Only about 35% of the actual increase in diesel costs was reflected in local prices, while gasoline, kerosene, and household LPG prices were kept unchanged, with the government absorbing the entire increase without passing any additional burden on citizens.
The Committee emphasized that this decision aims to strike a balance between actual costs and local prices, in line with government policies designed to limit the impact of global price fluctuations while continuing to gradually compensate for cost differences.
