Al-Kharabsheh: The competition gives us a glimmer of hope that Jordan will have a role in scientific and technological development Al-Zoubi: Jordan is one of the best countries in the field of digital transformation and energy April 20, 2024 - The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, said today, Saturday, that Jordan aspires to develop the technology for exploiting renewable energy sources and exploit the opportunities available in the energy transition, in an effort to become a regional center for the production and export of green energy. He added in a speech during his sponsorship of the closing ceremony of the Solar Innovators Challenge “Solar Energy Innovation Challenge,” which is organized by the Young Electrical Engineers and Media Committee of the Jordanian Engineers Association, that the competition that we are concluding today gives us a glimmer of hope that Jordan will have a major role in scientific and technological development, not only in the field of energy, but in different fields in Jordan. Al-Kharabsheh indicated that Jordan views green hydrogen as the fuel of the future, and we seek to produce and consume it locally and export it abroad. For his part, the head of the Jordanian Engineers Association, Engineer Ahmed Samara Al-Zoubi, said that the Electrical Engineering Division in the Syndicate is the incubator for artificial intelligence and advanced and modern industries, pointing out that it is difficult for any non-industrial society to achieve the required development. He added that the transformation in the world today is a digital transformation, and therefore the electrical division of the union is concerned with developing its work mechanisms and qualifying its youth competencies, especially since Jordan is considered one of the best countries in the field of digital transformation and in the field of energy. In the same context, the head of the Electrical Division at the Engineers Association, Dr. Ali Al-Khawaldeh, said that in light of the need for sustainability and clean development, it is the role of engineers as innovators to develop technical solutions that enhance the benefit of renewable energy sources in new and innovative ways in an effort to build a better future for future generations. Al Khawaldeh pointed out the importance of the clean renewable energy sector, as a real opportunity for innovation and sustainable development in light of the challenges facing communities affected by injustice and war, as investment in this sector provides the possibility of improving the quality of life, providing job opportunities, and achieving social and economic justice for deprived communities. The Solar Innovators Challenge competition witnessed the participation of 200 male and female engineers from recent graduates, and the applicants were filtered down to 48 participants. The competition aims to develop the photovoltaic energy sector, achieve sustainability and clean development, build an innovative and distinguished generation, enable participants to build a strong professional record, and direct them to engage in the job market.
