Abu Dhabi, November 6, 2024

During the second day of the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Conference, "ADIPEC 2024," Jordan's Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, held a series of productive meetings with prominent international energy companies. The meetings focused on investment cooperation opportunities in the fields of energy storage and clean energy production.

At the meeting between Al-Kharabsheh and Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company "Masdar," the two parties talked about energy storage, a topic in which "Masdar" has a great deal of experience and has conducted successful examinations. The two parties also discussed the potential for wind energy production to help Jordanian green hydrogen projects, which add to the Kingdom's objectives to attain energy sustainability and provide clean sources that help meet the demands of addressing climate change.

In turn, "Masdar" indicated a strong willingness to continue proposing new investment projects in Jordan, emphasizing the importance of the Jordanian market's favorable investment environment as well as the political and security stability it provides.

The solar energy project is considered Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company's (Masdar/Bainouna) and is one of the most prominent projects implemented by the company in Jordan, with a capacity of 200 megawatts (the largest operating solar power plant in the Kingdom to date) and an investment volume of $ 240 million. The project was implemented, connected, and commercially operated in December 2020.

In another meeting, Al-Kharabsheh met with representatives of the Chinese United Energy Group Ltd., which operates in the oil and gas sector and is interested in producing green hydrogen, as the company had previously signed a memorandum of understanding with Jordan to produce hydrogen, and expressed interest in the presentation made by Minister Al-Kharabsheh on investment opportunities in the fields of oil and gas exploration in Jordan.

It was agreed to hold an expanded technical meeting between the two parties to provide the company with extensive information about the areas open for oil and gas exploration in Jordan.

United Energy Group confirmed its interest in the Jordanian market, whether in the field of oil and gas exploration or green hydrogen projects, which reflects the trend towards expanding investments in the renewable energy sector and supporting Jordan's goals in transitioning to clean energy.

These meetings come within the efforts of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to enhance regional cooperation and attract foreign investments, which contribute to developing the Jordanian energy sector and achieving environmental and economic sustainability.
