Cairo/ July 16, 2024 - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, stressed today, Tuesday, the importance of the Arabian Nubian Shield as a source of elements used in transformation industries in the mining sector at the regional level.
During his participation in the first dialogue session entitled "The Importance of the Arabian Nubian Shield as an Exploration Target for the Mining Sector in the Future" within the activities of the Egypt Mining Conference 2024 EMF in its third edition, held in Cairo over two days, he presented a summary of the role of the Arabian Nubian Shield, parts of whose rocks are exposed in southern Jordan, in the eastern part of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the western part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The first session of the conference addressed the possibilities of prospecting for and developing minerals in the Arabian Nubian Shield, an area known for its rich deposits of gold, copper, and other precious metals, which provide tremendous opportunities for global investors.
The first session witnessed the participants confirming that Jordan and Egypt are two countries that form the Arab-Nubian Shield, each of which has taken steps to open its lands to local and foreign exploration and mining companies to support and develop the undiscovered mineral resources in region.

The participants pointed out that the strategic location of the region as a gateway between Africa and the Middle East increases its attractiveness and places it as a promising front for global investors seeking commercial opportunities, calling for addressing challenges such as regulations and infrastructure; before the Arabian Nubian Shield becomes the next major exploration target.

On the sidelines of the conference, Al-Kharabsheh and the Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mining, Karim Badawi, participated in the opening of the third mining exhibition.
The Egypt Mining Forum 2024 is held under the slogan (Exploring Untapped Mining Opportunities and New Commercial Discoveries) with the participation of senior government officials, policymakers, thought leaders, commodity experts, investors, and financial institutions, the forum also discusses main trends shaping the mining industry and provides an in-depth analysis of market dynamics, in addition to providing valuable insights into the most pressing issues in the global mining landscape.
