June 30, 2025 – The Jordan Chamber of Industry, in cooperation with the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund (JREEEF), organized an introductory workshop today, Monday, entitled: “Support Programs for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy for Textile and Garment Factories.” The workshop was attended by representatives from the industrial sector, along with a number of experts and specialists.

Rasmi Hamzeh, Director General of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund, emphasized that the industrial sector is one of the key pillars of the national economy, given its vital role in job creation, boosting exports, and its close connection with various productive and service sectors.

Hamzeh noted that since 2016, the Fund has implemented an integrated program to improve energy efficiency in the industrial sector through energy audits, consumption optimization, and the adoption of renewable energy solutions. To date, more than 100 factories have benefited from this program.

He explained that the results of the energy audits showed annual energy cost savings of 30% to 50%, achieved through enhanced operational performance and consumption optimization—contributing to competitiveness and sustainability.

Hamzeh also stated that the government has allocated 100 megawatts from renewable energy projects to support the industrial sector. He affirmed the Fund’s ongoing provision of technical and advisory support before, during, and after project implementation.

He added that the Fund is currently expanding its support to other sectors, such as private hospitals and hotels, reinforcing the concept of sustainable development and aligning with the goals of the Economic Modernization Vision 2030.

Dr. Hazem Al-Rahahleh, Director General of the Jordan Chamber of Industry, praised the efforts of the Fund under the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. He stressed that the industrial sector is a fundamental contributor to state revenues and economic development.

Eng. Ihab Al-Qadri, a Board Member of the Chamber and representative of the leather and garments industries, emphasized the importance of the textile and garment sector in supporting the national economy, increasing GDP, and creating job opportunities. He pointed out that the energy bill remains one of the biggest challenges affecting the competitiveness of factories.

Al-Qadri noted that adopting green energy programs in partnership with the JREEEF helps reduce costs and contributes to sustainable development aligned with the national economic vision.

During the workshop, Eng. Issa Zahdeh from the Fund gave a presentation on the Support Program for Implementing Energy Efficiency Technologies in the Industrial Sector, explaining the financing and support mechanisms for energy audit procedures.
