March 12, 2025 – The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources held a Ramadan guest lecture today, Wednesday, under the title "Welcome, Blessed Ramadan," presented by Dr. Ahmad Al-Kasasbeh, Director of Central Iftaa at the General AlIftaa Department.
During the lecture, Al-Kasasbeh explained the rulings and conditions for giving Zakat al-Fitr, clarifying that it is "obligatory for every financially capable Muslim." He noted that the General Iftaa Department has set the amount of Zakat al-Fitr for this year at 180 piasters per individual.
He emphasized that Zakat al-Fitr should be given to the poor and needy and must be paid before the Eid al-Fitr prayer ends. He added that it can be given from the first day of Ramadan or up to a day before its end so that the needy can benefit from it.
Al-Kasasbeh also explained that the head of the household is responsible for paying Zakat al-Fitr on behalf of himself, his wife, his young children, and his needy parents. He highlighted the virtues of the holy month, the importance of making the most of it through acts of worship and obedience, self-discipline, and returning to God with proper devotion.
Al-Kasasbeh stated that Ramadan is an opportunity that everyone should take advantage of in ways that please God, including mending relationships, maintaining family ties, and fulfilling duties and trusts.
Employees of the ministry actively engaged with the lecture by asking questions, which enriched the discussion positively.
