October 21, 2025 – The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources confirmed that the Jordan Petroleum Refinery in the city of Zarqa received 117,182 barrels of Iraqi crude oil during the period from October 11 to October 19, as part of the implementation of the previous memorandum of understanding signed between the governments of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the sisterly Republic of Iraq, which was extended on September 17.
According to the memorandum, this step is to complete the quantities that were not loaded during the previous period due to logistical reasons. Loading resumed on October 5 and will continue until December 31, 2025, or until the agreed-upon quantities are fully delivered, in order to ensure the continued supply of a portion of the Kingdom's crude oil needs in line with the understandings made between both sides.
The Ministry also confirmed that discussions are ongoing with the Iraqi side to extend or renew the memorandum of understanding for an additional year after it expires on June 26, 2025, under the same terms and specifications as in the previous agreement. This is aimed at strengthening joint cooperation in the energy sector between the two countries.
This step comes within the framework of enhancing the ongoing cooperation between Jordan and Iraq in the energy sector and solidifying the economic relations between the two brotherly countries in a way that serves mutual interests and contributes to achieving energy security for the Kingdom.
