Irbid/ November 14, 2024 - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, through the Information Requests Committee in the Media Unit, implemented an awareness workshop on "Right to Access Information Law No. 47 of 2007 and its amendments. " at Yarmouk University, Irbid Governorate.

On behalf of the university president, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Dr. Mohammed Anaqra expressed his gratitude during his sponsorship of the workshop to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources for its attention to raising student awareness of this right and its commitment to activating partnerships and cooperation with academic institutions. He affirmed the university’s commitment to strengthening and reinforcing the partnership with the ministry in various fields to serve the interests of students and fulfill the ministry’s objectives.

The workshop covered an introduction to the right to access information, the legislation regulating the right to access information,the protocol for procedures under the Right to Access Information Law, proactive disclosure, mechanisms for classifying available data and information, government platforms concerned with providing information, and the procedures for submitting an information request to the ministry.

The workshop included an overview of the types of data and information available from the ministry, which can be accessed by information seekers without submitting a request, as well as those that require a request according to a designated form.

The workshop was presented by members of the Information Requests Committee, Hashem Hajjat, Nour Al-Masry and Dr. Khaldoun Abu Hamida, who presented to the attendees several awareness videos produced by the Ministry's Media Unit about the law.

The workshop witnessed active participation from the faculty and students present through asking questions, inquiries and discussions that enriched the session and achieved its goal of educating attendees about the community's right to access information in accordance with the regulations.

The workshop is part of a series of workshops conducted  by the Information Requests Committee in the Ministry's Media Unit and directed to public and private universities in the Kingdom with the aim of raising awareness of "Law No. 47 of 2007 on Guaranteeing the Right to Access Information and its amendments" and to educate the community about the information and data available in the Ministry. This is in line with the ministry's awareness plan for the right to access information, which targets different groups for education.
