Al-Kharabsheh Showcases Energy Investment Opportunities During Participation in the Iraq Investment Forum

Baghdad, September 27, 2025
Jordan’s Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, participated today, Saturday, in a panel discussion titled “Opportunities for Cooperation Between Iraq and Jordan in Sustainable Transition,” as part of the Iraq Investment Forum 2025, which kicked off today in Baghdad under the patronage of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani, and will run for two days.

During the session, Dr. Al-Kharabsheh highlighted Jordan’s experience in transitioning toward sustainable energy and the efforts made to develop renewable energy sources, particularly in the fields of solar and wind energy, in addition to enhancing energy efficiency and reducing reliance on traditional sources. He also shed light on the available investment opportunities in the mining sector.

Al-Kharabsheh also discussed joint projects between Jordan and Iraq, foremost among them the electrical interconnection project between the two countries, and the oil pipeline from Basra to Aqaba, considering them among the most strategic projects reflecting the depth of bilateral relations.

He stressed the importance of expanding horizons of cooperation between Jordan and Iraq, especially in renewable energy, transportation, storage, and mining, as well as the exchange of expertise, noting that joint efforts between the two countries contribute to achieving energy security at the regional level.

The Iraq Investment Forum aims to explore investment opportunities in the energy sector and to present strategic projects that the Iraqi government plans to implement in the coming stage, within the framework of diversifying energy sources and attracting both foreign and local investments.

Jordan’s participation in the forum comes within the framework of the two brotherly countries’ keenness to strengthen economic and investment cooperation, exchange visions and expertise, serve mutual interests, and enhance the stability of the energy sector in the region.
